Malcolm Christy, NI Federation of Housing Associations (NIFHA) asks
Over the past few months NIFHA has seen a number of supported housing schemes experiencing difficulties over adequate levels of revenue funding. It is imperative that funding bodies such as the Housing Executive and Health and Social Care Trusts adopt the principle of ‘full cost recovery’ as recommended by the Treasury in their ‘Guidance for Funders’ document issued in Sept 2003 – How will the politicians ensure that voluntary providers are allocated the levels of funding which they are entitled to, to enable them to manage their schemes safely and properly?
Clare McCarty, Clanmil Housing asks
What support would our elected representatives give to the proposals from the Sir John Semple review to reduce the House Sales Scheme discount and even restrict the scheme altogether in certain areas of extreme housing need? Given the shortage of land for development as social housing, what support would our elected representatives give to the proposal in Sir John Semple’s review that all surplus government land be entered on a ‘surplus land register’?
Jennie Cornell, Greater Shankill Alternatives asks
What changes in legislation would you propose to ensure that housing in socially deprived areas of Belfast remains affordable to local residents?
